Privacy Policy

New House Checklist is free to use, with no account and no sign-up. This page explains what happens to your information when you use the site.
What stays in your browser
Your checkmarks, home profile, owned gear and move-in date are saved in your own browser using local storage. They are not sent to us, and we can’t see them. They stay on that device and in that browser only.
To remove them, use “Clear my checkmarks” on the My checklist page or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
Your browser also keeps copies of the main checklists and the pages you’ve opened on your device, so they work offline.
What we don’t do
This site doesn’t show ads, doesn’t sell or share personal information, and doesn’t set its own cookies. It has no accounts, and no forms that collect personal details.
Services that receive basic data about your visit
Hosting. The site runs on our web server, and visits reach it through Cloudflare. Both process basic details about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
Fonts. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address and browser details to Google when a page loads. Google’s privacy policy covers that data.
Visit statistics. We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to count visits and see which pages are useful. It records the page you open, the site that sent you, your browser, operating system, device type and country. It doesn’t use cookies, and we can’t use it to identify you.
Links to other sites
Pages link to stores, government agencies and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one stops applying once you leave.
If you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message to reply, and we don’t add you to any mailing list.
Children
This site is written for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
